Mitch Albom was everywhere with his tales of Tuesdays With Morrie, then he was everywhere again with The Five People You Meet In Heaven. Now he's back with a new fiction novel called For One More Day, and BookPages has an interview with him that you can read here.
I thought Tuesdays With Morrie was a heartwarming tale, although a bit like pablum. I knew he wrote it to help pay for Morrie's medical bills (he talks about that in the interview in more depth), and that was sweet enough that it covered some of the sap.
I did not enjoy The Five People You Meet in Heaven. It took trite to new lows, and yet it still managed to be one of the most phenomenal moneymaking new releases in recent memory, in the ranks of Harry Potter and other successful franchises.
