Obese? Think Health

I was recently reading an article in the news about exercise, fitness and health. Actually there are quite a few articles in the news these days on those very topics. Anyway the one I’m referring to was based on a study done at the University of South Carolina where researcher tracked a number of older adults over a 12 year period and found that regardless of stature; normal weight, overweight or obese, if they were physically active they had a death rate much lower than even sedimentary normal weight adults.

This is a very interesting study because it shows that, and I’ll say it again, physical activity has many benefits, we must get moving people, your life depends on it. Do you realize that an activity as simple as walking 30 minutes a day adds huge dividends to your health and fitness account. The numbers are in and they don’t look too good right now, but when it comes to fitness and health it is NEVER TOO LATE to get started. Every calorie burned for the sake of physical activity is a gain in the column.

Bottom line is this, even if you think exercise is futile, in your battle against the bulge, you are still gaining huge health benefits, and I would like to add, psychological benefits as well. You see once you begin to pursue physical activity actively it will inspire more of the same.
