September History Releases Preview

September looks to be a particularly good month for History books with several highly anticipated new titles due to be published:

Millennium: The End of the World and the Forging of Christendom (ISBN 978-0316732451, Little Brown), Tom Holland’s eagerly awaited third history book is available from 18th September. Millennium promises a thrilling examination of how Western Europe’s distinctive culture grew during the two centuries on either side of the year 1000AD.

The Whisperers by Orlando Figes (ISBN 978-0141013510, Penguin Books Ltd) is due to be published in paperback on 4th September. The Whisperers draws on first person accounts and archive material to examine the lives of ordinary people in Russia during the time of Stalin.

The Sisters Who Would Be Queen: The Tragedy of Katherine, Mary and Lady Jane Grey (ISBN 978-0007219056, HarperPress) by Leanda de Lisle is published on 1st September and tells the dramatic story of the Grey sisters and their lives as heirs to the Tudor throne.

Joint Force Harrier (ISBN 978-0718153991, Michael Joseph Ltd) by Adrian Orchard is published on 4th September and chronicles the bombing campaign undertaken by 800 Naval Air Squadron in Afghanistan in October 2006.
