Summer Vacation

Why not choose some exciting reads?

For the boys in your family, check out the Hot Dog and Bob series by L. Bob Rovetch. The books are adventure based and exciting. They are perfect for the young reader who is now into chapter books.

For tweens who are just getting into reading graphic novels, check out Goosebumps 3 Ghoulish Graphix Tales. The stories are a blast, not to mention a bit creepy, and will keep any tween glued to the pages.

If you’re looking for a good ghost story, you’ll want to get The Mariner’s Curse by John Lunn. Even after you’ve read the book, the plot still haunts you. Not recommended for kids who get scared too easily!

If the young lady in the house enjoys crafts, get her Stuff to Hold Your Stuff by Ellen Warwick. She’ll be busy all summer working on new bags, wallets, and purses for the new school year.

Of course, you could always keep the kids busy this summer working on their bedrooms with It’s Your Room: A Decorating Guide for Real Kids by Janice Weaver and Frieda Wishinsky. This book is filled with fantastic how-to tips on redoing your bedroom.

If your young adult has a pet hamster, check out I, Freddy by Dietlof Reiche. This is a delightful story about a very intelligent pet hamster whose only wish is to be free from his cage.

Tree Girl by T. A. Barron is also a perfect summer book for girls. Meet a girl who has no memory of her past as she discovers a special friend and an ancient secret.

Finally, check out the Abracadabra series by Peter Lerangis. My daughter loves these books and rereads her collection to often that the covers are starting to come off.
