Scary Reads

We’ve already begun decorating the house, hanging up the orange lights in the windows and making black and orange paper chains to hang along the walls. Costumes are being planned and my sewing machine is beckoning me to plug it in and begin working on this year’s trappings. We’ve pulled out the Edgar Allen Poe book containing all his writings and the kids are buying up all the spooky books they can find at the bookstore.

And speaking of spooky books, my daughter just recently finished reading In the Serpent’s Coils by Tiffany Trent and absolutely loved it. It is the first book in the new Hallowmere series and my daughter and I are both anxiously awaiting the release of book two. If you’re looking for a scary, mysterious book for your tween to teen daughter, you will definitely want to check out In the Serpent’s Coils.

My son is taking a break from all the pirate books he’s been reading and is reading anything that has a dragon in it. He loves The Heroic Misadventures of Hiccup the Viking series by Cressida Cowell. The books keep him laughing and he loves to reread each one.

I myself have just begun reading Poison by Chris Wooding. So far it is an excellent creepy story for young adults. I can’t wait to finish it and share the review with all of you.
