With Earth Day almost here, teachers and home schoolers are looking for science projects that will help reinforce conservation as well as open children’s eyes up to the natural world around them.
However, why stop there? Learning about the planet and its’ inhabitants is important year round.
Here is a list of some great biology books for children and students:
Bottle Biology: An Idea Book for Exploring the World through Soda Bottles and Other Recyclable Materials by the University of Wisconsin Staff (ISBN-10: 084038601X). Bottle Biology details 20 science projects that can be adapted for grades K-12.
Janice VanCleave's A+ Projects in Biology: Winning Experiments for Science Fairs and Extra Credit (ISBN-10: 0471586285). This book is loaded with great science project ideas. For grades 8-12.
There is also Janice VanCleave's Biology For Every Kid: 101 Easy Experiments That Really Work (Science for Every Kid Series) by Janice VanCleave (ISBN-10: 0471510483). For grades 3-6.
Biology Teacher's Survival Guide: Tips, Techniques & Materials for Success in the Classroom by Michael F. Fleming (ISBN-10: 0130450510). Includes reproducible pages. Great resource for teachers.
Flowers, Trees, and Fruits: Young Discoverers: Biology Facts and Experiments by Sally Morgan (ISBN-10: 0753455005). A good book for young children, ages 4 to 8.
