April 22 is almost here and that means teachers, home schoolers, and parents everywhere are searching for Earth Day activities for their children.

What is Earth Day? Earth Day is a day when people work extra hard to teach others about their responsibilities for caring for the planet. Groups get together to pick up trash along roadways. People plant trees in public places for everyone to enjoy. And children learn about recycling their trash as well as ways to reuse what might otherwise be thrown out.
When did Earth Day first begin? The late Senator Gaylord Nelson and founder of Earth Day held the first environmental awareness day in 1970. The goal was to make people aware of their planet and how they impacted the environment.
