Everyone Should Have a Medical Identification Card

Everyone should have identification, even younger children. Most adults have a driver's license or other state identification cards. But what about a medical emergency? Everyone should have some medical information that's readily available if you become sick, injured or unconscious.
One side of the card should have their picture, name and address, height and weight and especially their birth date. Names and birth dates are used by doctors and hospitals for quick identification when they are treating patients. The other side should have the contact and medical information. Identification cards should be updated at least once a year, or if any information changes.
You can easily create them using Microsoft Word or other software. Click here to go to a free online tutorial using Microsoft Word to create your cards. All you need to get started is a recent digital photo of each person, a list of their medications, a list of allergies and any other pertinent medical information, contact information, doctor's name and phone number.
You can purchase cards at any office supply store. They are very inexpensive and come in different colors and styles. Left over cards can be used for other projects using many of Microsoft's software, such as personal business cards, click here, playing cards click here and individualized Valentine's and Christmas cards for your children to give to their friends.
