Third in a Sensational Historical Romance Trilogy Published

Philippa Gregory won the Parker Romantic Novel of the Year Award in 2002, with The Other Boleyn Girl, the story of Mary, the younger sister of Anne Boleyn. Meticulous research combined with passionate, realistic emotions chronicled the story of someone who was a lover of Henry VIII before she stepped aside for her elder sister to achieve her own ambitions at court. Although it is a true story, it still contans the happy ending which readers of romance know and love.

The second book in Philippa Gregory's trilogy followed, to more critical acclaim. This one was entitled The Queen's Fool and examines the relationship between Elizabeth I and her own sister, Elizabeth, and the love and passion which surrounded them. Now the author has a new book on the shelves. It is the third in the series and is called The Other Queen. Publisher reviews are fantastic and one comment which keeps reappearin is that the book gives us a new insight into the affair of Elizabeth I and Robert Dudley. If you like the historical side of Historcal Romance, then this has been praised, too, for its authenticity and colour.

The book was released by Harper Collins on 21 August (ISBN 9780007190348). I haven't read it yet, but it has really intrigued me. If the research has been as good as it is being heralded, then what will we discover about Elizabeth I and her amorous encounter, not to mention the passions of Mary, Queen of Scots, held prisoner and left under the guard of Bess of Hardwick, newly-married and with romantic trials and tribulations of her own?

If you get to read it before me, email me or post in Discussions, to let me know your thoughts. And if you are already a fan of Philippa Gregory and have read the entire trilogy, what did you think? Did you have a favourite book?

This trilogy could be a great Christmas present for that lover of Historical Romance in your life. I, for one, am looking forward to finding out!
