At the mall recently, my husband parked our car beside a white pick-up truck with a large trailer attached. On that trailer sat a beautiful Ford Model A car, one of the many Ford models to be manufactured on the production line in Canada.
Repainted in shiny black and refurbished, the car was an eye-catcher. The narrow tires were obviously newer, with a spare that had not seen the road at all. The small hub had wooden spokes fanning out to the rim of the tire, and the spokes, too, had been repainted. There was also an up-to-date Ontario licence plate attached on the back. But, the car sat too high for me to see in the windows, even though I jumped as high as I could. The large, round headlights featured glass that was made with long facets inside.
Ready for display, the car was clean and polished, without a speck of dust to be found. With no owner in sight, I am left to wonder about the history of the car. Who was its first owner? How much did they pay for it new? How did it remain in such good condition over all of these years and where did the new owner find it? How long did it take to renew the vehicle?
I’m going to keep my eyes open - who knows what pleasant surprises will be in the parking lot. See antique vehicles at Old Car and Truck Pictures.
