I am nearly at the end of my first year of teaching, and i am really having a hard time with some students' lack of responsibility. I have tried reward systems, talking to them, sending them to the principal, I am all out of ideas. I wreck my brain every day thinking of ways to try to make these students more responsible, and some how, for some reason, there are still some that are not even slightly phased by my efforts.

I would suggest that you look at my eBook resource: Classroom Management 101. It contains strategies that teachers have used successfully all across the country in order to get students to behave in class and the same strategies would work well to promote more responsibility. You can find the resource here: http://www.321learn.net/resources/ebooks/classroom-management-101/
