As a child my family had many holiday traditions. My aunt and cousin would arrive from Detroit typically on the night of December 23rd. The tree would already be decorated and grandma would have already begun cooking for the festivities. On Christmas Eve about thirty relatives would meet out in the country for a sleigh ride. From the youngest to the eldest, everyone would climb in the sleigh and gather close to one another to stay warm. After returning from the sleigh ride we'd go for a night of competitive bowling. The way some relatives behaved, you'd think they were competing for the USBC Masters. Nonetheless, we always had a wonderful time.
Sometime during the holidays, our family would always go to Frankenmuth, a small village in central Michigan. Most known for Bronner's Christmas Wonderland, (the worlds largest Christmas store), Frankenmuth is a delightful place to visit during the holidays. In addition to the Christmas store, guests can enjoy various holiday lights and displays, tasty German dishes at the Bavarian Inn or Zehnder's world famous chicken dinners.
Visits to Frankenmuth during the holidays are absolutely unforgettable. Do you have a favorite destination or special place you like to visit during the holidays?
