There are just some southern dishes that seem to need that "special" touch.
I've listed some common ones on my latest poll. Feel free to plug in your most irritating dish or visit any of my articles and hit the message board and share your tragic dish entry.
Dumplings were the ones that gave me major problems. I mixed up some, dropped them in the pot of broth, and I swear as my boyfriend was my witness, those dumplings flat disappeared. I still have no clue what happened. All I ended up with was a pot of dirty water. The dumplings dissolved or were abducted by aliens. Even my mom could not figure out how I made the amazing disappearing dumplings.
I can now make some mean dumplings. But, it did take a while. I will break down the steps. There are some tricks to making those.
I did notice that biscuits were hit by my first poll clicker. Thank you much for the visit (my mystery friend). For some reason, biscuits always came easy to me. I won the 4-H biscuit contest at age 9. Again, there are some tips that will make a huge difference. There are, however, not any magic extra hours in a day. I use the dump and eye it approach. But, I will dump and then measure and provide some solid biscuit directions soon. Hopefully, I can get exact measurements this weekend, because I know it's sure hard to make something when someone says dump in a little of this or that. But, it's the southern way.
