Southern Cuisine? Do what?

Don't let the word "Cuisine" throw you. I've never yet (and don't expect to) ever hear the words "southern" and "cuisine" in the same sentence in the hot and muggy south.

That's not to say that you don't get good cooking and even some gourmet stuff below the Mason/Dixon. In fact, I've never eaten better than in my home states, and I've lived all over including Greece and Japan. While I love food from all areas, I will never think southern fare can be beat.

From cornbread and greens to gumbo and pecan pie, there's something for everyone and plenty of it. The only real cooking "sin" in the south is not having enough for everyone to go home full and happy. Yep. You cook to feed an army even when you've only got a platoon coming.

I'm the "new kid on the block" at Suite 101, but I've been eating and cooking southern since birth. Whether you want a rich chocolate cake with fudge frosting or homegrown tomatoes on slices of homemade bread, you've landed at the right spot.
