I still remember taking our brand new high chair out of the box. It was the epitome of motherhood. One day, in the not too distant future, it would hold my new baby. I proceeded to sanitize the already clean high chair. Fast forward 4 years and another baby. The once beautiful high chair is cemented with what must have once been food and there is a strange odor coming from somewhere beneath the cover.
Babies need to make messes and explore their food. That’s what I keep telling myself as I clean up mess after mess and each meal slowly fills the poorly thought out openings in the plastic (I highly suspect that the makers of highchairs are laughing as they add tiny food catching holes into their designs.) There are ways to keep your highchair sanitary enough that you actually want to let your baby eat out of it while still allowing the very important experience of playing with your food.
Read Cleaning Your Baby's Highchair for tips on cleaning up after messy mealtimes.
