Tony Avent writes from a singular perspective in that there are many parallels to be drawn between his nursery and Heronswood, the Kingston, Washington nursery that closed abruptly last month subsequent to its sale to Burpee.
In his Plant Delights web site monthly "update" for June, he addresses many interesting points and reassures us that his nursery, Plant Delights at Juniper Level Botanic Gardens is not anticipating sale or closure. Emphatically, at least, not as of June 2006.
So we can all sigh with relief.
But, pointedly, he also mentions that gardeners should support the small nurseries by spending some money with them. Interesting, especially since Plant Delights has already exceeded the average lifespan of a mail order nursery.
