Planting a rain garden is such a great idea for those difficult to plant areas where rain runoff collects. If you have one of these tricky spots on your property, a rain garden is something to consider. A rain garden also enables you to help nature keep rain in the same area where it falls naturally, rather than run off your property as potentially damaging or polluting storm water.
A rain garden is a perfect example of planting along the precept of "right plant, right place" and fits perfectly with the current emphasis on sustainable gardening and green living.
To find out all about rain gardens and how to design and plant one of your own, go to this terrific, colorful, informative rain gardens web site from Rain Gardens of West Michigan. It was developed specifically for that geographic area but the principles and detailed instructions and many of the plants would do well in many parts of the country. Enjoy!
