This is a great time to collect summer blooming flowers and plants for pressing. If you enjoy crafting with pressed flowers, you might want to take a look at how the pro's at the herbarium (basically that's a pressed plant specimen research library) do it. How to Collect and Press Flowering Plants is a nifty Powerpoint presentation explaining how to make professionally pressed plant specimens, such as would be kept in an herbarium. It explains how to collect samples of small or large plants, how to keep them fresh, how to clean them, how to place them in the press to flatten them, how to dry them, how to mount them with glue, and how to label them in a systematic way so they can be archived and retrieved later. It also explains how to clean the glue off your tools and equipment! The instructions are crystal clear and concise. If this is something you want to learn how to do, or if you have ever wondered "how do they DO that!?" then you will definitely enjoy seeing this.
