One of the things that I'm keen to learn about at the Uni is Scriptwriting. So I hauled my aged posterior out to Newton Park for this morning's 9am lecture, and actually got there for 8.30, which must be a world record.
While I was waiting, I wrote some more of the wip, which --as an aside-- means that I hit target for today extra early. Yay!
I looked up with about a minute to go, and thought, Huh, that doesn't look like Doug Chamberlin.
Which was probably because it wasn't.
Instead Steve May took us through brainstorming. The most entertaining aspect of the lecture was his hugely inventive suite of greetings for those who didn't make it for the 9 o'clock start, from a straightforward 'You're late!" to sitting among the students pretending to be one of them -- to the obvious bewilderment of the latecomer.
The purpose of this of course wasn't just to make the point to those who were late, but also to those who made it on time to his lecture: you really, *really* don't want to piss this guy off.
He was making a serious point of course; lectures only last for 50 minutes, and a good one is worth it's weight in whatever substance you choose to weigh.
And I am so glad I was on time this morning...
