School Dismissal for the Summer

Students only have a few days of school left before the start of summer officially begins for many of us. Often the last few days of school are spent cleaning the classroom and dreaming about the summer. Many times students become a little unbearable on the last days of school as their is limited instruction and students are unsure of what to do with their time.

Create fun but learning tasks for students even though they do not account for their grade. Have students engage in science experiments or create their own short movie. Students who are given specific parameters for an assignment but creative freedom will spend the last few days involved in the task. Too often the last days of school are filled with mundane activities such as crosswords and worksheets.

Engage students for the last few days to be fun and educational. Teach students how to build a radio or a go kart. Get students thinking about an assortment of activities that they are able to continue during the summer months. Students may wish to have an art show or a talent day.
