Teachers and students are anxiously awaiting for the bell to signal the beginning of the summer holidays. The last few weeks of school are difficult for students since most districts have completed report cards and the few remaining assignments are not graded. Students are less willing to put in the effort if their work is not be evaluating.
Often the last few weeks are spent cleaning the classroom and playing educational and athletic games to pass the times. Students are more than willing to play the games but are less willing to participate in organizing the classroom. It is best to organize the classroom in a few sessions with many incentives for the students. Freezes or promise of a baseball game is an excellent tool to recruit students to assist.
For the students who are unwilling to participate allow them to read a book instead of forcing them to help. However, they have also chosen to not participate in the fun activities that are programmed later in the day.
