The first day of school starts in late August and early September for students but it is much earlier for teachers. Teachers begin preparing lessons plans in early August if not earlier to get ready for the next year.
Each year, teachers must organize seating arrangements for optimal learning. The seating arrangements will change throughout the school year, but teachers will have created group seating for the first day of school, before she is able to get to know the students. As well, the classroom needs to invite students to a new year of learning. Teachers are best to intrigue students with bulletin boards outlining the year.
The first week or two of school is about socializing with the students, learning about their academic levels and their personalities. It is best to create rules, code of conduct, and what they can expect of the year. Students success will increase if their are able to predict consequences and what is expected of them.
First day of school is exciting and stressful for teachers and students. Create an environment that relaxes the students and yourself for the first day of school.
