Let's face, it life (and love) is hard enough, without having to do the whole "reality show thing." The latest blip in the reality show world is the relationship between parents of eight, Jon and Kate. But they certainly aren't the first.
Remember Nick and Jessica on Newlyweds? They were cute and funny, but they were also vulnerable. Nick has said about their show that "Jessica and I began playing these parts even when we were by ourselves." In other words, they didn't know how to act once the cameras were off.
I wrote about Nick and Jessica in my article, "Love Lessons from Celebrities." The way I saw it, Nick and Jess failed to leave and cleave, meaning that they brought the public into their relationship during a very crucial time. Statistically, the first three years of a couple's marriage are crucial to bonding. Often the rest of the marriage will be determined by how well the couple learns how to deal with adversity, family issues, and challenges from friends during this time. Doing a reality show when you're newlyweds is really not a great idea.
I'd think twice before going on a reality TV show. What do you think?
