Thanksgiving and Pancreatitis

Thanksgiving is quickly approaching. I can smell the turkey and stuffing already. My dog also likes to eat but unfortunately for her I don't allow any special Thanksgiving meal to come her way. You might think I'm being mean but I'm actually looking out for her health. A big fatty meal might cause a bout of pancreatitis. Pancreatitis is a really bad stomachache where the pancreas becomes inflamed and causes severe abdominal pain. Pancreatitis needs to be treated by a veterinarian and often IV fluids and medications are required. If pancreatitis goes untreated the animal can die.
