If the pet is alive it is imperative that you act fast. Your veterinarian should be called and appraised of the situation. Let the veterinary staff know you are on your way and that it is an emergency situation. The veterinary staff acts as nurses and are the first to evaluate your pet and begin any life saving measures. Let them know if your pet is breathing or struggling to breath and if your pet is losing blood or if it is conscious. Knowing this information in advance allows the veterinary team to properly set up and be prepared when you arrive with your injured pet.
