Avoid Keeping Your Dog Tied Up in the Back Yard

Keeping your dog tied up outside is not the best choice for the health of your dog. Dogs that are kept tethered can easily get tangled up and will no longer be able to get out of the sun. These dogs are more likely to suffer heat stroke, dehydration, and in some cases death. Dogs that are kept tethered are also more likely to suffer from intestinal worms, fleas, ticks, and fly strikes because they are not able to move away from their feces.

Aside from the physical health risks, your dog will also suffer mentally. Dogs that are kept tethered or in backyard kennels for the majority of the day become frustrated. This frustration can turn to aggression. We hear on the news everyday about dog attacks, this frustration should be taken seriously. Dogs need to have their physical and mental needs met, this can be achieved by walking your dog as a family and instead of tethering your dog how about fencing the yard, or better yet let your dog in the house as a member of the family.
