A recent discussion on the H&G discussion pages started with faux rocks in the landscape and evolved into children's gardens, peace gardens and the International Peace Garden Foundation.
I asked Paula Savage, the director of the IPGF, in an e-mail about the viability and direction of the Foundation. Here is her reply:
...As you know with many non-profits we have to rely on the generousity of others. The person responsible for our web up dates it a pretty busy guy and does this all pro-bono. We do have a lot of good news to report but unfortunately must wait patiently until our web master can process these updates.
The good news is that all systems are go for Switzerland. Dedication ceremonies are scheduled for May 3rd in Bern. We are also working on a grand spring floral display in the state of Washington. The Intl. Peace Gardens will be the theme for this community celebration. There will be individual miniture replicas of each Peace Garden.
Also, when my schedule permits, I am asked frequently to speak at garden clubs, Rotary meeting, schools, etc. about the Intl. Peace Gardens and our amazing story.
Thank you, Paula for such a descriptive reply, and I hope some of you have a chance to visit their site and take a look at the international work they've done so far. More will be writen here at Landscaping@Suite101 as the dates for the IPGF projects come closer.
