Landscape Knitting

Wow! This is a clever, but admittedly nongreen, idea for bringing vibrant color and a sense of fun to urban landscapes. We also learn a new phrase "Landscape Knitting."

In August 2005, "AKrylik" and "PolyCotN" (who prefer to remain annonymous) frustrated over unfinished stitchery projects knit their first doorknob cozy. The cozy and these two would-be knitters became the nucleus of a tag crew bombing the urban landscape with stitched works of art; wrapping everything from beer bottles to public monuments and utility poles. Clandestine moves and gangsta rap led to the birth of Knitta.

Other "yarn vandals" around the world have joined in this dynamic pursuit with colorful and eye-catching results. What a way to spruce up the urban landscape! Although, I'm still for trees...You gotta love and appreciate this approach!
