Night Daycare

Recently I was driving down a road near my house when I saw a hand-written sign outside of an average-looking house that perked my curiosity and also somewhat disheartened me. The sign was advertising daycare for, "Anytime of the Day or Night. Walk-ins Welcome."

This facility might have been offering completely caring and high-quality care, but I was struck by the struggle that faces some parents when they have only a few opportunities to find childcare, and those that work during first-shift hours have a vast array of options.

This also made me think of the fear that children face during walk-in daycare when they are suddenly left in the care of person that they do not know, in an unfamiliar environment.

If you want to read more about this issue, as well as possible solutions for families that need to have chilcare provided during second or third shift, please visit my article, Third Shift Daycare.

I am one of those parents that struggle with finding a nightcare for my infant. I dont work the third shift, I work the swing shift. I can't find a day or night daycare who is willing to take care of a 8 month old from 3pm-11:30pm. Those who are willing charge a bundle! I cant afford it!
