If you're having a fall party, especially for Halloween or Thanksgiving, you'll likely have the humble pumpkin represented in your decor.
Using the basic instructions for pumpkin bowls as your guide, you can tranform real pumpkins into pretty containers for all kinds of dishes. They're inexpensive, and won't need to be washed after the party!
Consider carving small pumpkins to serve dips or salsa in. Find a tall, thin pumpkin and stand vegetables inside, like carrots, celery, and cucumber spears. Low, squat pumpkins make great pickle dishes. Or serve your favorite soup, stew, or chowder in pumpkin bowls rather than the pumpkin soup.
If you're really handy with a carving knife, you can carve designs in the dark orange part of the outside of the pumpkin, being careful not to slice right through the flesh. Just be very careful while working with the knife.
With a bit of imagination, your buffet or dinner table will be loaded with pumpkins before you know it!
