The New Maroon 5 Single
Just I have formerly whiffed on Fall Out Boy, I have not been into Maroon 5 for quite some time. Maybe I just can't be into a band everyone else froths at the mouth over. I loved that Harder To Breathe song before radio and the masses jumped all over it. Then people raved about their debut album. My best friend burned me a copy and I hated it. I listened to it once. But my romance with Maroon 5, long gone now, may be creeping back in just as I suddenly have a favorable opinion of FOB as well. And they're Emo... (I'll elaborate on my love/hate affair with FOB some other time).
I really like the new Maroon 5 song, Makes Me Wonder - check it out.
Maybe I'll once again try to get into the band on the strength of a catchy single. Or not.
The New Video From The Killers
Who knew they were into the hallucinogenic drug lifestyle? It sure seems that way from their video for Read My Mind. Hugs not drugs, kids. Somewhere Nancy Reagan is rolling in her grave. Wait, she's still alive? Just watch the video...
The Tempe Music Festival
This really deserves its own article, but for the moment I will say the Tempe Music Festival in Arizona is shaping up to be a wonderful experience. This year was the best one yet!
The Tempe Music Fest Bill 2007:
O.A.R.
The Fray
The Gin Blossoms
Lit
Everclear
Authority Zero
Yellowcard
Obadiah Parker Ft. Mat Wedle
The Smithereens
Cowboy Mouth
And those are just the names you'd recognize; there were many more bands playing!
The Gin Blossoms Performing Live
Rarely do you hear a live band sound that good. Lifehouse, however, who were on stage right after them on the other hand, not so much. We left as their first song, a horribly sounding and incredibly long jam was finally ending. Both bands were performing Friday night (March 30) at the Tempe Music Festival in Tempe, Arizona - right down the street from ASU. A "beach" park on a man made lake smack in the middle of a college town is the perfect location ripe to host 30 bands over two days. The Gin Blossoms are local and a favorite of anyone who's been in Arizona for a while. They have always been able to pull a crowd here and now I know why.
