I debated on whether or not I should post about the death of Brad Delp, lead singer of Boston, here on the pop music blog. Afterall, Boston was a huge band in the 1970s, and you can bet many of today's singers secretly fashioned their voices after that of Delp. So instead of blogging about Delp myself, I'd like to point you to a moving tribute
from the Orange Country Register. Kate Luther also beat me
to the punch! (Good job, Kate!) I think of Boston more as classic rock, but in the band's hey day, it most certainly would have been considered pop - and pop gold at that.
The essential Boston tunes:
*More Than a Feeling
*Peace of Mind
*Long Time
*Hitch a Ride
*Don't Look Back
I think it's essential to understand the history of popular music in order to be a true music fan and appreciate the influences of the artists we hear today. So please take a moment to learn more about Boston.
