First National Christmas Tree

Calvin Coolidge (known by many as "Silent Cal") lit up the very first White House Christmas tree on this day in 1923.

....and, yes, it was called a "Christmas" Tree. There were no HOLIDAY trees in 1923. Ahhhh...the good ole days!
