Passages in our lives

Last week, our family drove to Massachusetts to bring my daughter to college. It was a trip filled with memories, laughter and tears. My husband and I couldn't help but reminisce about how this last 18-year journey has sped too quickly.

And to think that I was one of those mothers who did not test positive on the home pregnancy test! In fact, because I was also cramping, my doctor told me he thought I would miscarry. It was an emotional roller coaster for several days until we watched those hCG levels go up. If your pregnancies were like mine, you might read Confirming Your Pregnancy and What is hCG?.

I also had a very rough time with morning sickness in the early weeks. I wish I would known then about the many ways of treating morning sickness, which I have included in the article Coping with Morning Sickness.

So my advice to you this week is that if you are newly pregnant or have little ones at home, cherish every second of those pregnancy kicks and chubby-faced kisses. Those moments will be over before you will be ready.
