Cocoa Butter and Stretch Marks
Many women suffer from striae gravidarum, otherwise known as stretch marks, during pregnancy. Products containing cocoa butter, typically in lotions or creams, have been claiming for years that they can prevent stretch marks from occuring.
A recent study published in the International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology attempted to discover whether or not cocoa butter is an effective topical cream to prevent stretch marks. Researchers in Beirut, Lebanon had 200 mothers participate in the study. Half were given a topical cream containing cocoa butter, the other were given a placebo. They were instructed to apply the cream daily, starting in their first trimester and continuing throughout their pregnancy.
Results showed no difference in the mothers who used the stretch mark cream versus the placebo.
Some mother do find that applying rich creams helps the itchiness of their skin during pregnancy, but remember that it will not prevent stretch marks from happening.

About three months ago I started using Brenese Cacao Butter Cream,
recommended by a friend(www.bcpcreams.com). It is the best cream out there
for stretch marks and it is natural. It is about $45 but all worth it. I am a dark skin woman, and I had them on my arms, back of my legs, hips,
thighs, you name it. it was not pretty. It is so concentrated that you only
need very little. I have used it for three months and after three kids I
needed all the help. It reduced my stretch marks and as I continue to use
it, my stretch marks seem like they are actually healing. I believed it
when my mom told me that "there is nothing you can do about stretch
marks" but was she wrong. I think it works so well because it has
Cacao Butter, Shea Butter and Jojoba oil as the major ingredients. I also
used all over my body, it works as an anti aging cream for the body. Who
would have thought that I would get rid of my stretch marks and look
younger at the same time. You should start seeing results in about seven
days. Let me know how it goes.

I know that they say genetics plays a role...but my mom and sis both got
really bad stretch marks and I didnt get one (yes, we are related)!!! I did
stay really hydrated, took omega-3(safe for preggos) and found a great
tummy butter by spoiled mamma that helped me keep strtch marks at bay. It
could be a combo of everything but I was religous about appying my butter
every day and night...and I loved it because it is organic and safe for my
babe. I also found that with the OMEGA-3'S and the butter my skin didnt
seems as dry as I kept reading that it would be---well cant beleive
everything you read...try it for yourself!!!
