Blogs and podcasts are a wonderful way of gaining publicity for your site and company. Feeds allow your audience to subscribe to your blog or podcast - and keep them posted as to your fresh and exciting new content.
I have just discovered Feedburner, which is the service used by TechCrunch- Michael Arrington's highly successful technoblog.
Feedburner is FREE - and allows you to optimize, publicize, and monetize your feed.
The technology that made feeds possible is called RSS, which stands for Really Simple Syndication, and is based on XML technology which is a software that allows ALL types of files to be read and coordinated. To be fair, I should also mention that there is a competitive technology called Atom, which is also XML based.
Enough tech talk! As a marketer, your GOAL is to get your content out there and reach as many people as possible. This service will get you there, and will even allow you to add your blog as a possible add-on for Google Home pages.
Check it out at www.feedburner.com.
If you are new to the concept of a feed, here is a great tutorial about it: http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/feed101
