Top 5 Evergreens

These evergreens are great additions to your desert garden. Some are slow-growing, some grow quickly, but all are distinctive and beautiful in their own way.

You can use these trees for borders, windbreaks, accents, or garden “bones.” They grow well below 4,000 feet, although several will also grow in higher elevations. Generally, cold-hardiness zones 7-9 will support these trees.

  1. Mediterranean Cypress, Cupressus sempervirens
  2. Alligator Juniper, Juniperus deppeana
  3. Afghan Pine, also known as Mondel Pine, Pinus eldarica
  4. Aleppo Pine, Pinus halepensis
  5. One-seed juniper, Juniperus monosperma
