Groundcovers help prevent erosion, provide habitat for small animals and ground-dwelling birds, work like mulch to keep soil moist and at even temperatures, and even add nutrients back into the soil.
But what ground covering plants do you use for your desert garden? And what are they like?
Are they evergreen? How wide can one plant be expected to spread? How high do they get? What are their scientific names?
Will these groundcovers grow in alkaline desert soil? Do you need to amend the soil? Will they grow in acidic soil? How much water do they need?
Get the answer to these questions, and a lot more info in Top 10 Low-Water-Use Groundcovers.
