The Flu

I've survived another Christmas, but not without getting the flu, again. My entire household got it this year--simultaneously. Which is fine, since there was nothing more strenuous to be done than open a few presents and clean up the mess. It's not like I'm about to fight for a title and a ridiculous sum of money.

I wonder how often high-profile fighters get in the ring with a bad flu bug when the stakes are high. Maybe they have a championship to defend, a career to revive, or a big payday ahead if they can just get through one more fight, but they get hit by an energy sapping, hack-up-a lung-in-the-morning bug.

How many boxing careers have been irreversibly altered by influenza? I don't know; only the fighters themselves do.
