In December 2007 I formed a local "Holistic Conception" group in my area. The group met monthly to discuss their hopes, apprehensions and plans to become pregnant. Many questions came up and I have done a lot of research over the years on menstrual cycles, natural medicine and combining a more holistic approach to conception. A conscious conception: the act of preparing the mind, body and spirit to welcome in a new soul.

In my article Giving the Gift of Bodywork I outline some of the important steps to consider when purchasing a gift card or certificate for massage:

  1. Choose the gift recipient, the one who receives the gift, wisely. Will this person enjoy a massage or bodywork session?
  2. Choose the correct massage: shorter sessions for children and elderly, specially trained practitioners for pregnant women, the best techniques and styles for the person receiving the gift.
  3. Look for ways to make your purchase easier: can the spa, practitioner or office mail the gift certificate to your loved one? Can you purchase the gift easily in person or order online? How long will it take to get to your loved one?

Some of the more common forms of massage and bodywork are included in Popular Styles of Massage Therapy. Looking for a way to treat employees this year? Try Massage at the Office for tips on starting a chair massage program in your place of business.

Massage and bodywork can make great gifts for the holidays and these are just some tips to make your shopping and gifting experience smoother.

According to RESOLVE, the National Infertility Association of the United States, 7.3 million Americans are affected by infertility. Infertility is the inability to conceive or retain a pregnancy and can be linked to the environment, genetics, stress and much more.

Couples are turning to informative magazines and publications such as Kim Hahn's Conceive Magazine, and books like Walter Makichen's Spirit Babies, Angela Wu's Fertility Wisdom and Toni Weschler's Taking Charge of Your Fertility.

During this week RESOLVE will be offering educational and inspirational webinars for their members.

VIP members of Smile Dental Spa in Tucson, Arizona can receive up to an hour of massage or get a Reflexology session or even a paraffin dip with their visit to the dentist's office. Patients of the Cosmetic Dental Spa in San Francisco, California can even schedule a facial to go with their composite fillings or regular checkup.

The Dental Spa in Pacific Palisades, California offers heated herbal neck wraps, and a variety of cosmetology services alongside the usual menu of offerings from a dentist office.

This growing trend in Dental Spas are making patients feel more relaxed and comfortable in a spa-like atmosphere. Chair massage and other bodywork therapies are being offered to help relieve the stress of a visit to the dentist. The move towards treating the whole person instead of just a complaint is one that many patients appreciate. Customer service in the health industry may be making a come back!

Some of my clients are surprised that Reflexology can be received by just about anyone, no matter the age! This amazing modality can be used for infants and very young children all the way through to our seniors and every age group between. The youngest clients I work on are the newborns I meet as a birth doula.

In my article Reflexology for Children I describe a basic routine that can be used on infants and toddlers. It should be noted that babies and seniors will not require the same amount of pressure or time spent giving a Reflexology session than the average adult.

Reflexology for Women's Health is another article I have written that shares research studies done on more common female health conditions. I had the pleasure of meeting the gentleman that researched Reflexology for PMS earlier this year at the Reflexology Association of America's conference in Portland, Maine.
