Chinese Black Bean Soup with Pork Ribs is filling yet not-too-filling and it's a great departure from all that turkey and gravy. Nutritious, delicious and easy to make. Give my mother's recipe a try and your tummy will be grateful. Trust Me.

I discovered a great cold noodle recipe that uses pasta noodles. The ingredients are simple enough and you should have them on hand: soy sauce, garlic, ginger, red pepper etc... You can bring this dish anywhere and serve it cold or at room temperature. Not only for the winter, but also great all year.

Celebrate the Year of the Pig with my Chinese cashew nut cookie recipe. Chinese astrology has a 12-year-cycle, so chances are if you are turning 12, 36 or 60 you were born under this sign. Pig people are very sweet and loyal - and deserve a nice cookie!

Desserts from the tropics use everything from coconuts to pineapples to red beans and rice. Don't be put off, many people are confused about these ingredients but if you're open to new eating experiences, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Try out my Malaysian Bubur Cha Cha (boo boo cha cha) dessert -- so unique and you can't beat the name.

My parents use to drink a lot of Baby Duck sparkling wine at their parties in Malaysia (hey, this was the 70s) so my memory of festive occasions back then don't include alot of cocktails. Since Baby Duck is considered a tad too ... indignified these days, try out my recipes for tea and tropical punches as well as a bracing banana cocktail infused with tequila and strawberry liqueur. Here's to the New Year!
