Avian Flu in Britain

Bird flu has killed 2,500 turkeys at a poultry farm Lowestoft in eastern Britain. The farm is run by Bernard Matthews company, one of Europe's largest poultry producers.

In efforts to contain the outbreak, 160,000 more birds will be culled, and veterinary authorities have imposed restricted within a six mile radius of the infected farm.

Bird flu had not been seen since last April when a dead swan infected with the H5N1 strain washed onshore in Scotland.
