Wishing George Clooney would return to TV

I'm going to be heading to TCA in a couple of days and hope to bring back loads of juicy goss for everybody. TCA is an annual event where mobs of journalists from around the world descend on an L.A. hotel (this year it's at the Ritz-Carlton in Pasadena) for a fortnight of eating, drinking, and interviewing talent that the networks have made available.

One of the invites I got detailed how the stars from a new fall pilot will be barbecuing for critics! Nice. Hopefully it won't be 100+ degrees in the Valley. We're having a heatwave and you couldn't pay me enough to sit in the sun. Well, unless it's George Clooney... (If only he would go back to TV then I could see him every week!)

Before that fantasy date with gorgeous George (apologies to my hubby, Danial!), I thought I'd share some deets from this morning's L.A. Times, which had a story about Raven-Symoné.

The actress formerly known as Raven who got her break starring as cutie-pie Olivia on The Cosby Show is now 20 years old and has grand plans to conquer the world. She's already a big star with the tween set with her Disney series That's So Raven and she starred in The Cheetah Girls (I never saw it, write to me if you did!) and now there's a sequel. She's planning a clothing line (like Hilary Duff) and various other products. So that's what all the buzz was about in Pasadena yesterday afternoon.

Raven's a great example of a child star who didn't go down the wrong road, she seems reasonably healthy, well-fed, smart and, well, she looks different from all the blonde-haired, blue-eyed surfer types populating Tinseltown. It's a nice change.

While Raven is branching out into film, other celebrities taking the reverse route. In fact, there are so many film stars in fall shows: from James Woods in Shark to Sally Fields in Brothers & Sisters to Ray Liotta and Virgina Madsen in Smith, that it's definitely going to be a dynamic fall season. Hopefully they'll seamlessly make the transition from 40 feet to 40 inches without losing any of their luster.

Vote in the poll and tell me which superstar you'd like to see weekly in a comedy series or drama.
