The Central Coast Wine Classic , launched in 1985 by Archie McLaren, is one of America's major multi-day wine events. It is typically introduced by a black tie dinner at famed Hearst Castle, overlooking the splendid rocky Central California coastline at San Simeon. This year's dinner will be prepared by Iron Chef Cat Cora. Tickets to this event are $1250 per person, but patron sponsorship is required.
The events of the 2007 Wine Classic will be held July 12-15 and will include:
Proceeds from the 2007 Central Coast Wine Classic will benefit Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Central Coast Center for Arts Education, Central Coast Commission for Senior Citizens, Children's Health Initiative, Civic Ballet of San Luis Obispo, Enhancement Health & Wellness, Opera Santa Barbara, San Luis Chamber Orchestra, San Luis Obispo Vocal Arts/International Choral Festival, University of California at Santa Barbara Arts & Lectures, San Luis Obispo Children's Museum, San Luis Obispo Symphony Orchestra and Transitional Food & Shelter.
Sponsors of the Wine Classic include Wine Spectator, General Motors, Chevron/Molycorp Corporation, Wells Fargo Bank and various other patrons.
Each event is separately ticketed, with prices ranging from $50 to $125. All events take place in the San Luis Obispo area.
