Auto Racing
2011 was an exciting year for motor racing, with close battles in all the top categories. It will also unfortunately be remembered as one of the worst for fatalities. The Indianapolis 500 centenary at the end of May was a classic race with thrills and spills throughout. Meanwhile in Formula 1, Sebastian Vettel was once again world champion. However the downside of motorsport has also been adequately demonstrated, with both Dan Wheldon, centennial Indy 500 winner, and Marco Simoncelli in Moto GP losing their lives in crashes within a week of each other in October.
