Part One of My Recent Trip To Chilean Wine Country.
We stared our wine touring in The Maipo Valley. It could not have been more perfect 28 degrees almost every day and not a cloud in sight. The Valley is about one hour south of Santiago. Its distinguishing mark is vines which cover the countryside row upon row.

I will tell you a few facts about Italian Wine.
The main grape varieties are Nebbiolo, Sangiovese, Barbera, Lambrusco, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon in the red category. For the white the most widely planted are Verdicchio, Treddiano, Malvasia, Pinot Grigio, and Chardonnay.

Something A Little Different, Foch.
Quails’ Gate Estate Winery, Foch. Yes the grape varietal is Foch.The wine was a rich red color with a ripe berry aroma. It was full bodied with a hint of coffee, vanilla and a nice plum flavor.
