A great film about three soldiers returning home after World War II, who try to return to their pre-war, less horrific, lives. Burt Lancaster plays Robert Stroud, a killer who spends a lifetime in prison, yet who manages to change his life one fateful day when he rescues a wounded sparrow.... "Beyond a Reasonable Doubt" 12 Angry Men gives us a sense of what goes on behind closed doors in a jury room. To Catch a Thief and The Lion in Winter It's been a few weeks since I've seen either of these films, so my memories have faded somewhat. Therefore, I've decided to write two brief statements on these films, and give them to you both at once..... Three Men and a Baby Go West: John Ford's 3 Godfathers John Wayne attempts to get in touch with his nurturing side. A Tough, Gritty Movie.... about Disco? Saturday Night Fever is not a happy-go-lucky film, although it does have a lot of Bee Gees music. The Marx Brothers Demolish the Political System in Duck Soup Duck Soup is one of the craziest movies you'll ever see, even though it's 70 years old. Why Can't I Speak Like These Guys? Sweet Smell of Success is a good movie, for sure, but the dialouge is something else all together. A late entry in Billy Wilder's repertoire; this film is still quite entertaining. |
