The Fibromyalgia Friends Support Group
Coping with a chronic illness, such as FMS, can be a long and lonely journey.
Finding support is essential to our physical as well as emotional health. Often, when we need help the most is when we find it most difficult to reach out to others, but this is exactly what we must do. It is the act of reaching out, to help one another, that will enable us to cope most effectively. The journey then becomes a little less frightening, long, and lonely.

P.A.C.E. - A Prescription for Coping with Fibromyalgia

FMers, that the most important aspect of coping with fibro (managing pain and fatigue) is
the concept of pacing. It is a skill, while often difficult to put into actual practice, that can be learned.
|
|
Keeping Pace with Fibromyalgia
Originally, I had planned to do a typical ‘Pacing’ article by providing the usual litanies, but it occurred to me that we might find it a bit more interesting to wander off the beaten path and look at it from a different perspective, and explore some of the possible reasons behind our seeming resistance to this concept.

Coping with Fibromyalgia: One man's perspective
“Women are much more likely to develop fibromyalgia than men (by a ratio of 4 to 1)” according to The Arthritis Society. The reason for this is unknown at this time. But, that does not mean that FMS is any less real for the men who suffer its devastating effects.
