The diggers on the Goldfields of Ballarat had finally had enough. Under the leadership of Peter Lalor and their own flag, they armed themselves and built a stockade at Eureka. This was overrun by the soldiers and many were killed but in the end this lead to reforms. Today they are folk heroes.
