Definition of a Y Rat

Most of them will never take the opportunity to come in and talk. Most of them will have a homelife that you will continue to wonder about forever. Most of them will be content to just spend their days on your basketball court and in your game room. Some will take to you like a parent figure or older sibling and tell you everything. Some will end up spending all their time in your office, happily offering their time to make copies, staple papers, and file paperwork. You will grow very close to some, and you will hardly know others.

Nonetheless, all of them will be affected by the kind word that you say as you pass them in the hall, the compliment on an accomplishment, and the safety and warmth that your facility provides them. The impact that they will leave on a Y rat could be life-changing-- or life-saving.
